After viewing the photos above, answer the following questions using complete sentences. Which photos contained in the link above give you an idea of what to do for your photos? Have you thought about doing a self portrait series prior to this? Could you do the same techniques with another person ? Which ideas do you have after viewing all of these photos?

CFG Critique – Unusual Framing Devices

Step 1: Get together in your CFGs and pull up the final Unusual Framing photos you made last week.

Step 2: Each person should be able to answer these questions about each photo in your CFG. Write down the group’s thinking on each of these questions for each of your photos. Post the answers in a google doc and turn it into Google Classroom. Critiques are due on Tuesday.EVERYONE TURNS IN A COPY OF THEIR GROUPS SUMMARIZED CRITIQUE.

1. Does this photo successfully demonstrate the concept of UNUSUAL framing devices? Are we used to seeing objects framed by the frame that is in the photo? Is the frame truly original? Is the focus correct? Does the image need to be rotated to make sure the horizontal lines are straight?

2. Overall what could be done to improve this image?

Each person turn in a copy of their group’s summarized answers to the above questions in google classroom. You might have to copy and create a new document, then paste to turn it in.

According to the first video, what is the best setting on the camera to use when making light paintings? Do you need a tripod for making light paintings? Why or why not? What kinds of ideas do you have for your own light paintings?

According to the 2nd video what is shutter speed? What is aperture? and what is ISO? What happens if your ISO is too high?

This Week’s Photo Challenge: Slow Shutter Speed

Our next photo challenge is Slow Shutter Speed. Take 2 photos between now and the due date (FRIDAY) that demonstrate your understanding of Slow Shutter Speed . Remember Shutter Speed is the Tv (Time Value) setting. 4″ = 4 seconds.

Remember you will need a tripod.

Technique Choices:

Panning
Ghosting
Light Painting (must create a shape- not just squiggle lines)
Light Trails
Star Trails
Silky Smooth Water
You will be graded on:
Relevance (does the focal point connect with it’s surroundings? Does it seem purposeful?)
The correct areas of your image are in focus/ Visibility.

Something must be stationary and in focus in your image. THE IMAGE MUST CONTAIN MORE THAN THE EFFECT.
