because the photographer had nightmares of that stuff and decided to recreate it. it helps him go through it because relieving it makes him more comfortable. i can take a picture of a spider.
they are important because they show his nightmares of the shadows, he gains on showing people what he feels like and to show what happens in his dreams. i am guessing he takes a picture of the background and the person and merges them together. what i could do is use like fake spiders and put them all over my body or like a picture of me falling from a high place in the air.
